Arjan haak
I am a Graphic Designer living in Priceville, ON since 2021. Prior having lived in Toronto with combined 15 years experience. That time has seen me work on variety of projects (print and web) on a full-time and freelance basis. As a foundation, I studied Fine Art (Fanshawe College), Applied Commercial Photography (Sheridan College) and Graphic Design Fundamentals (George Brown College). My experience as a production artist has seen me work on various print and online visual communications. Through constant exploration of typography, imagery and illustration, I am a designer with conceptual skills as well. I have designed original work for various clients, and have seen projects from concept to completion. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
A few of the agencies I’ve worked for are: Grip Limited, Constellation Brands, Ogilvy Mather, DentsuBos, Draft FCB, Rosetta, Leo Burnett, Oxford Properties, Invesco Trimark, Motum B2B Marketing, Quadrant Marketing, Thomson Reuters, and Jackman Reinvents. More recently I held a Senior Designer position at Cheil Canada for 3-years (2014-2017) before moving to Puerto Escondido, Mexico for 1.5 years. In 2020 our family moved 2 hours north of the city to realize a dream to be closer to nature and a slower pace of life. The pandemic forced our family to switch roles, so I took on the role of home schooler and main care giver for our kids while my wife was able to continue with her career while I put mine on hold. I did manage to work on some shorter contracts with Response Innovations, Forsman & Bodenfors (2020-2023). Most recently I freelanced for Riverside Naturals on their 2023 back-to-school digital campaign for healthy snack brand, MadeGood. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with local business to help them with their design needs. New signage and menu for Goodfathers Pizza in Flesherton ON. As well as non for profit Symphony in the Barn (Glencolton Farm), providing them with print design for their music festival and annual Christkindl christmas market.
Outside of my career, I’m a husband and father of 2 daughters. Proud Dutchman. Guilty of cracking Dad-jokes. Avid cyclist: road, gravel, mountain...you name it, I’ll try it. I like a good beer, local foods, doing my part for the environment and working on our 4 acre property. Thanks for taking the time to read a bit about me.
